The Northern Illinois Transplant House have recently partnered with the Breanne Conterio Memorial Scholarship Foundation. This local foundation has a 2 part mission:
"1) Provide Monetary Assistance Gifts to organ recipients and their families for non-medical expenses such as: room & board, travel, food, utilities, etc.
2) Award Scholarships to graduating students from Lockport Township High School who will pursue medical, nursing or science studies in college."
The Breanne Foundation has selected the Northern Illinois Transplant House as a partner that will help them achieve the mission. Please go to their website and learn about Breanne Conterio, a remarkable young woman who helped 5 other people live with her gift and learn about her family who are honoring her memory by helping others. You can find more information at www.breannefoundation.org. For information on the 2018 Breanne click here.
Thank you for the warm hospitality from the Organ Transplant Support group at Good SamaritanHospital in Downers Grove. I was the guest speaker last night talking sharing information about the Northern Illinois Transplant House project There was a lot of interest in the project since almost everyone in the room was an organ transplant recipient. They had lots of questions and ideas. We made some great contacts and we will keep OTS in the loop. Be sure to visit them at http://www.organtransplantsupport.org/ .
